A Word From Your Teacher...
Welcome to 8th grade! You have made it to the last year of your middle school experience. Now that you have made it, here are some things you need to consider and incorporate into your daily, academic lifestyle.

Work Environment
In the eighth grade, students work independently and can work collaboratively in groups. Students are expected to complete assignments in either environment. Students often take leadership roles in the classroom by helping other students or teaching others what they know about the content.

Use of Technology
JWMS is a technology school. In fact, all schools are now required to use technology to teach the standards, provide students with the opportunity to use technology to accomplish the learning targets, and to use technology to create and complete assignments (in-class and out).
Work Ethic
As an 8th grader, the work you do this year has a huge impact on your high school placement. It is important to perform well. This means you take your time, think about each question or task, complete all assignments, including homework, and study for tests.
It is important that you work to fulfill your greatest potential. This means you ask questions, get tutoring when it is necessary, put effort into all tasks and assignments, and have a positive attitude about your progress.
Awesome students don't always succeed with the first attempt, but they know that quitting is not an option. They use failure as part of their learning process. In other words, FAIL FORWARD and triumph in your learning process.

Respect
Students at JWMS respect themselves and respect others. This is important and necessary in an academic environment. We all have a right to learn, to teach, to express our feelings, to share, to grow, to be part of the group, to be alone, to blend in, to stand out, to do what helps us become the very best we can be.
Let's make it a great year!  Ms. Zimmerman
